This is Alley Spring Mill in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. A century ago the community of Alley was a thriving community.

A mill was vital to community life, where grain was ground to provide the daily bread. The present building was constructed during 1893-1894 as a merchant mill. It was larger than most mills in the area and replaced an earlier mill on this same site that was built by 1868.

The mill is powered by Alley Spring, located just behind the mill. Alley Spring is one of the largest springs in the United States and forms Jacks Fork Creek.
