"Cuckoo Among the Webs"
One July morning in 2021, while driving through Seney National Wildlife Refuge, I spotted a black-billed cuckoo along the side of the wildlife drive. It was backlit by the morning sun, and I noticed that the backlighting was also picking up the nearly-invisible spider webs entangled among the branches and over the lichen growing on the trunk.
