Taken outside the Timpanogas Lake camp shelter Timpanogas is widely attributed to be the "headwaters" of the Willamette River, (actually the Middle Fork of the Willamette River). Skookum Creek is near the northern edge of the Upper-Willamette River Watershed, and Timpanogas, just below Cowhorn Mountain, is along the southern end of the Willamette's watershed.
