Some days turn out so much better than expected. I got to lie in a carpet of lupines, look at a beautiful blue and green Lake Helen and see a volcano in the distance. Mount Lassen stands at 10,457 feet above sea level. The elevation at Lake Helen is aound 8,160 feet. Both are in Lassen Volcanic National Park. This photo was taken in early August, 2013.
