Before the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition, the older Clark brother was instrumental in defending the western frontier from a British siege during the American Revolution. We found it hard to believe that Indiana was once the wild west, but in the 1770's it was the back door the British were looking for to defeat the upstart Colonials. GR Clark coordinated the effort and recruited militia, defeating a professional Army with traders, trappers and frontiersmen.
