In the early August, 2012 an uncontained forest fire in Salmon-Challis National Forest raged. Fueled by heat, beetle kill and gusty winds, the fire sent smoke over much of Idaho. Discouraged but eager to spend time at our favorite campsite by Redfish Lake, we drove into the smoke.
What a beautiful trip! Every evening filled the skies and simmering water with unbelievable color created by the natural 'smoke' filter. The colors were incredible.
