The 10-mile round-trip hike starts in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. A 1-00-foot descent leads to Fence Canyon, a cottonwood tree-lined oasis that pours into the Escalante River and Glen Canyon country. The trek continues through Escalante's calf-deep warm waters to an opening upstream - Neon Canyon. Navajo sandstone walls lead to a majestic end: Golden Cathedral. Two worn-through potholes from the slot canyon above spill into the domed-roof formation and illuminate a pool below.
