In July 2013, a few friends and I left our apartments around 9pm, drove three hours to Shenandoah Nat'l Park, and scrambled up rocks to the summit of Old Rag Mountain in pitch black with nothing but brilliant stars and our headlamps leading the way. We made it to the top just before sunrise (5:30am), and welcomed the sun back after a long hike in the dark. This was one of the last pictures I snapped before our long hike down. Talk about pure joy!
