It was the end of a long and wonderful day at White Sands National Park when I decided to split off from the family and take one last round of sunset pictures. As I was hastily trying to find the best location for photos of dunes and the sunset I (quite luckily) happened to spot the trail of a snake going up a dune before I spotted the snake itself who was also trying to catch the last rays of daylight. It was only later that I confirmed that this is the most rare specicies of rattle snake found in the park, the Desert Massasauga.
