This is a Haleakala silversword which is a threatened species located only in Maui. This plant only grows in lava rock and in high elevation raging from 2,100 - 3,000 meters; it can hibernate up to 60 years, and will give life to about 50 heads of flowers in full bloom. This beautiful plant will only bloom once in a lifetime, and will then dry to it's death.
