The Humbled Captain. Taken just before noon May 9, 2013. The dramatic sheer southeast face of El Capitan towers above a subservient grove of trees but one providential branch appears to be repressing the great granite giant under its thumb. Admittedly, the magic of this scene could only have been captured in video, or stop motion series of photographs as broken clouds blowing over the valley alternated the makeup giving the Captain an intriguing range of colorful expressions.
