During our last trip to Death Valley, my family completed our most epic hike to date: we made it to the summit of the highest dune in the Mesquite Dunes. My daughters, ages 3 and 5, were troopers during the four-hour hike! This shot was taken close to the top; I was just a bit higher than my three-year-old and my husband. I love the look of determination on her face.
