Vail, AZ pioneer & native Fred Mayer & his daughter try to identify where relatives lived at the town site of Helvetia AZ in the early 1900s. Mr. Mayer's father worked at the Helvetia mining camp in the 1930's. Portions of Helvetia are privately owned & portions are BLM. This photo as taken on BLM land. Helvetia Rd through Helvetia is a passage way through the Santa Rita Mountains in the Coronado National Forest via Lopez and Gunsight passes. Helvetia has important historic ties to Vail AZ.
